Support the community
GALA stands in solidarity with asylum seekers and refugees. When you arrive at GALA you'll meet our charity team representing Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS) wearing pink high viz vests, if you are able, please tap their card readers and donate £3. Our charity stall is in the stretch tent next to the Hennessey stage. There you can find out more about the work SDCAS do and pick up a free Solidarity T-shirt.
Next to the Pleasure Dome, there's an art installation designed by Peckham Platform's Youth Platform with the artist Melanie Issaka. Peckham Platform is GALA's creative & educational charity partner, who brings local communities together with artists and young people to co-produce social art responsive to the needs and concerns of the people involved.
For our local music lovers and other local charities we increased our community ticket allocation by 1500. Providing 3000 discounted tickets for local residents and 500 free tickets for people working in local charities and community groups.
Create an inclusive space
We've been working with Attitude is Everything to help improve the accessibility of the festival. Please see our detailed accessibility information.
We've also introduced a number of welfare related services to improve the inclusivity of the festival and support our zero tolerance approach to assault, abuse or harassment of any kind. We have dedicated security for our LGBTQ+ community, look out for the badges! There is a specialist response security team who are radio'd if an incident of assault or abuse occurs. There is also a welfare area on site nearby the Neighbourhood stage. This area is staffed by professionals whose role is to safeguard and look out for your wellbeing. Go there for any reason related to your wellbeing and you'll find a safe space and a friendly face.
We send zero waste to landfill and anything we cannot recycle is converted into energy. Please help us to increase our recycling rate by using the clearly marked bins and separating your waste into recyclables and non-recyclables. We have a reusable cup system on site across all bars to avoid plastic waste.
Festivals are not for everyone. Particularly if people are loud when they leave. Please be respectful to the local residents of Peckham Rye park and keep noise to an absolute minimum when you leave.
