Pre-existing societal inequalities in Peckham and Southwark have heightened the already severe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most vulnerable have had access to vital services reduced, businesses face closure and young people have had little access to education and workplace opportunities.
In 2021 and in the years to come GALA will do what it can to help address these societal inequalities. Read more about our community initiatives below.
Through our own commissioned research, we’ve decided to do what we can to support the Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SCDAS).
This charity on our doorstep seeks to relieve poverty, distress and to promote health and further education for asylum seekers and refugees. SCDAS do vital work, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
We will be actively fundraising for SCDAS and promoting their cause on social media. We will update you with details on the fundraising campaign soon.
In support of young people in Peckham and Southwark, we will be implementing an internship programme for those who have not been as fortunate as others. We will provide paid internships and mentoring.
This page will be updated with details on our internship and mentoring programme.
